As a VMC Machine Operator, your primary responsibility is to operate and maintain Vertical Machining Centers to produce precision components according to specified dimensions and tolerances. You will work in a manufacturing environment(tool room), collaborating with supervisors, engineers, and quality assurance personnel to ensure the efficient and accurate production of parts.
Responsibilities:
Machine Setup: Prepare the VMC machine for operation by installing and aligning workpieces, tooling, and fixtures according to engineering drawings and job specifications.
Operation: Operate VMC machines to perform milling, drilling, tapping, and other machining operations to produce parts with precision and accuracy.
Monitoring: Monitor machine operations during the production process to ensure adherence to quality standards, making necessary adjustments to tooling and machine settings as required.
Inspection: Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify conformance to specifications.
Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on VMC machines, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn or damaged components to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
Safety: Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following lockout/tagout procedures.
Documentation: Record production data, including machine settings, tooling changes, and quality inspection results, accurately and in a timely manner.
Problem Solving: Troubleshoot issues that may arise during the machining process, such as tool wear, material deformation, or machine malfunctions, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.
