Conduct audits of payroll processes and systems to ensure compliance with internal controls, external regulations, and company policies
Audit payroll and personnel records to determine unemployment insurance premiums, workers' compensation coverage, liabilities, and compliance with tax laws
Ensure legal payments such as TDS, Provident Fund, Professional Tax and all other government/statutory compliance pertaining to payroll as applicable are paid in time and the reports pertaining to them are submitted on time.
Ensure timely preparation and submission of various statutory forms and returns related to ESI, EPF, Bonus, Gratuity, labour welfare etc.
Prepare detailed variance analysis and reports prior to the payroll cycle for all types of pay-outs, statutory returns and ensure compliance to all monthly, quarterly and annual payments and returns.
Update payroll records by reviewing and approving changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job titles, and department/ division transfers.
Prepare reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.
Responsible for MIS and Analytics regarding payroll and employee benefits with Standardization of reports
Back up transaction files and transmit to payroll system according to company procedures. Process and/or issue employee paychecks and statements of earnings and deductions.
Compute employee wages and deductions and enter wages and deductions into payroll system.
Provide information to employees and managers/supervisors on payroll matters, tax issues, benefit plans, and collective bargaining agreement provisions.
Complete batch adjustments to payroll. Adjust basic settings in time clock system (e.g., employee schedule, time clock restrictions) and correct punches.
Calculating payroll costs for businesses by analyzing employee statistics such as salaries, wages, commissions, overtime pay rates, and other items such as fringe benefits or deductions from paychecks
Required Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
3-5 years of experience in payroll auditing or a related role
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with advanced Excel skills
